Kogo is Japanese and it means Empress.
She arrived on Labor Day 2025. At the time she had multiple health issues. Under weight, anemic and most concerning, she was not breathing right.
So we got her teeth floated several times (they were in bad shape), added a supplement to fix her anemia and fattened her up. By the end of October she had gained sufficient weight (still could use a bit more) and when the weather cooled down her breathing normalized as well.
With her health issues resolved she could finally move to the herd.
We soon learned that Kogo is a mare who bonds deeply and she struggled processing all the changes in her life. This resulted in some behavioral problems. We gave her more time and early 2026 she had settled in and was able to start her new job.
Our patience paid off as she turned out to be a gem! She has a very forgiving, patient and sweet nature. A bit on the lazy side, but willing to learn. Because of her gentle nature and smooth trot/canter she is an excellent beginner horse.
